Duterte hits oppositors of Martial Law: “Ilagay mo sila dito sa Mindanao at dito sila tumira, tignan natin”

President Rodrigo Duterte hits the people who opposed his decision to declare Martial Law in Mindanao to resolve the rising power of Islamic State in the Philippines and to end the Marawi City Crisis that started by the Maute Terrorist Group.

During the sidelines of Duterte’s visit to the WIA soldiers and police officers at Camp Evangelista, Cagayan de Oro City, June 11, 2017, the President blasted the oppositors of Martial Law after he was informed by the media about the casualties from the government side.

“I lost 58 soldiers add it to the number of already [killed in action] tapos ganon lang kasimple ang tingin nila,” President Duterte said after he heard the sad news from the press.

“Maybe sila kasi sa Luzon okay lang sila eh,” he added.

He thinks that the oppositors from Luzon would change their minds if they try to live in Mindanao to see the real situation of the Southern Philippines.

“Pero ilagay mo sila dito sa Mindanao..make him establish a residence here in Marawi, and in Zamboanga, Jolo tignan natin.” Duterte said.

The President also mentioned Liberal Party and criticized its members for accusing the Arroyo administration of being corrupt, while they are also allegedly doing the same practice. He also accused the Aquino administration for being corruption-ridden.

“Madali lang kasing magdaldal.. papogi its very easy to criticize but history has shown na yung nag criticize.. yung noong mga Liberal corrupt corrupt si Arroyo ngayon sila oh tignan mo yung six years, edi puro corruption,” he said.

The declaration of Martial Law of President Duterte in the whole island of Mindanao was opposed by the members of the opposition.

Supreme Court also received a petition against Martial Law from few members of the lower house who proclaimed themselves as the ‘Magnificent 7’ consisting of Albay Rep. Edcel Lagman, Caloocan Rep. Edgar Erice, Magdalo Rep. Gary Alejano, Capiz Rep. Emmanuel Billones, Akbayan Rep. Tomasito Villarin and Northern Samar Rep. Raul Daza.

But House Speaker Pantaleon Alvarez said that he would not respect any attempts of the Supreme Court to stop the Martial Law of Rodrigo Duterte because the senate and the congress also expressed their support to the decision of the Filipino President.

The Martial Law declaration in Mindanao have a maximum implementation of 60 days, but President Rodrigo Duterte was unsure if he would extend it in case that the problem in the Southern Philippines still existed.

“How long? Well… if it would take a year to do it, then we will do it. If it’s over within a month, then I’ll be happy,” the president said.
