How to Train Your Brain to Fall Asleep in 60 Seconds

Dr Andrew Weil, a Harvard-trained physician, introduced this powerful method.
  • The method is actually a breathing technique in which the respondents should regulate their breathing to counts of 4,7 and 8
  • Oxygen finds an easier way to your lungs, your body and mind go through a relaxed state
Insomnia bothers pretty much every other person on this planet. It may be caused by poor food choices late at night, stabbing light from your screens, and deteriorating stress. Shutting the brain down is pretty impossible, and the exhaustion proceeds day and night. But, this is the end to your struggle.
Have you heard about the ‘4-7-8’ breathing technique?
The method itself was pioneered by Dr. Andrew Weil, a Harvard-trained physician and wellness practitioner. Dr Weil teaches the role of meditation and breathing in anti-stress treatments.
This sleeping technique does not require any special effort and there are three rules you should keep in mind. First, you should breathe through the nose for 4 seconds. Then, hold your breath in for 7 seconds. Finally, exhale through your mouth for 8 seconds exactly. Your brain is now flooded with soothing chemicals, and your heart runs at a slower pace.
Sounds too good to be true, right?
Behold, there is no room for skepticism here. You should definitely give this a try. You will be amazed by the way your body reacts to the mighty ‘spell.’ Some say that they have fallen asleep just before they reached their fourth repetition. E the fact that now they can fall asleep in less than a minute.
This technique is great in so many aspects. In stressful situations, your adrenal glands release adrenaline. This hormone increases your heart rate, and you end up all nervous and moody. You breathe a lot faster and shallower.
Inhaling and exhaling in accurate intervals affects the effect of adrenaline, and the heart rate starts slowing down, because it is forced in a good way to do so.
At the beginning you may feel a slight discomfort, but it should be soon gone. Keep counting, and you will notice how your heart rate slows and your mind gets clear.
This has exactly the same effect as if you were enjoying a refreshing sea breeze at the beach. So comfortable and pleasant. Try this breathing method tonight and tell us how did it go. There is much more information onDr. Weil’s site, so feel free to do a thorough research.
