Jessica Sanchez Rocks, Pinoy Pride SUCKS

Another Fil-am hits the headlines again. This time it’s Jessica Sanchez of “American Idol” fame. And as fast as you can say Pinoy pride – here comes the Pinoy politicians freeloading on the fame and reputation of Jessica Sanchez.

For example, Binay hailed Jessica as said she is destined for greater things:

MANILA, Philippines – Vice-President Jejomar Binay hailed Jessica Sanchez Friday for getting into the finale of American Idol.

“Congratulations to Jessica Sanchez for making it to the American Idol finale. Once again, she has brought great pride to Filipinos,” Binay said in a statement released to media.

“Congratulations as well to her parents who have supported her all the way. Your daughter’s achievement is likewise your own,” he added.

The 16-year old Sanchez is of Filipino and Mexican descent and she has gone the farthest in the reality television singing competition since Jasmine Trias won third place in season three of American Idol.

Binay, as Presidential Adviser on Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW) Concerns, thanked the Filipinos in the United States who voted for Sanchez.

“The overwhelming support you have shown is proof that with the spirit of bayanihan that is innate in us Filipinos, nothing is impossible,” he said.

If Binay meant unleashing your inner flying voter (read Pinoys who vote in elections for one candidate multiple times) – hell yeah nothing is “impossible”… to a culture of cheating and impunity.

But if it were indeed true that nothing is “impossible” to Filipinos – how come the Philippine economy only attracted 2% of all the FDI that went to ASEAN? How come the Philippines grew by only 3.9% at a time when its neighbors are growing at twice that rate?

Yeah the Filipinos can do the “impossible” – they vote for idiots and thieves. Heck they even have an Ombudsman who doesn’t know basic algebra – not to mention a totally WORTHLESS BS Aquino for President of the Philippines. However, don’t ask Filipinos to vote for people who deliver performance – that’s the Pinoy kryptonite – and no amount of karaoke or singing can change that.

Another group with the Pinoy Pride virus is the House of Thieves.. este Congress who said they will “honor” ‘idol’ Jessica Sanchez.

MANILA, Philippines – Win or lose, the House of Representatives will honor Jessica Sanchez, the first Filipino-American contestant to make it to the final two of the hit US talent competition “American Idol,” Speaker Feliciano Belmonte Jr. said yesterday.

“We don’t have to wait for her to be crowned ‘American Idol’ for us to honor her,” Belmonte said in a telephone interview. “We will honor her for bringing pride to our nation.”

The Speaker said from the time the 16-year-old Sanchez was accepted as a contestant and reached the finals, she made Filipinos all over the world proud of their heritage.

“She strengthened our sense of patriotism, unity and love for our country,” Belmonte said, adding Sanchez’s achievements reminded foreigners of the many artistic talents of Filipinos.

I dunno where these goodfellas got the idea that Jessica brought pride to the Filipino nation.

It’s like hello – her mother left the Philippines to find better opportunities in the US of A. If there’s anyone who will take pride in Jessica’s achievements – it will be the environment of the US of A who gave Jessica and her family the means to be able to pursue their dreams – not the Philippines. As far as San Diego is concerned, Jessica is 100% all-American.

Think about it – if Jessica’s mom never left the Philippines – would she be able to afford sending Jessica to take singing lessons? Would Jessica have been able to sing for the San Diego Super Bowl – I doubt that very much.

Another would be that if Jessica stayed in the Philippines – she’d probably wind up as just another singer in a Manila night club somewhere. I doubt her chances at getting TV exposure. If it were just left to ABS-CBN and its copy cats, Jessica wouldn’t meet the cut even if she had a beautiful and powerful voice – because she is not a skanky fair skinned mestiza.

Thus going back – I dunno if the success of Fil-ams who made it – WITHOUT the need for any Philippine government subsidy, or any Philippine trapo padrino – and who succeeded ONLY after LEAVING the Philippines says a lot about how screwed up the Philippines is.

And now, the Philippine government, the Filipinos, and all the Pinoy pride sycophants have the nerve to claim Jessica as one of their own. Being Filipino is just an accident of birth – not a product of hard work, it’s not an achievement, nothing to be proud about.

Jessica’s success is all about hard work and having the right breaks. Breaks which were not given to Jessica’s mother in the Philippines and all the other OFWs who had to leave the Philippines because the Philippine constitution restricts the entry of foreign investors who can provide better jobs than the lousy work provided by ABS-CBN, MERALCO, Globe Telecom, PAL and all the oligarch owned companies.

Thus it is downright disgusting for the Philippines and the Filipinos to claim Pinoy Pride in someone whose only association with them is an accident of birth – of her mother being born a Filipina. Jessica’s mom is filipina and her father is mexican, but she is gladly living and proud to have the American life (not the Filipino life).

If the Philippine congress truly wants to honor Jessica – they ought to remove the laws which necessitate Filipinos having to leave overseas to find good paying jobs and breaks. If anything – the invitation of the Philippine Congress adds insult to injury.

Vote for Jessica Sanchez because she has talent – not because of her Filipino heritage.
