On the Spratly issue

View from a point: Mark Alegre Worldwide Confragration, Nuclear Annihilation

Thanks for sharing perspective of recent historical accord of Spratly islands.

My take on the overarching view is for dialogue and not conflict to preserve peace in the region.

World war ll which involve Pinas was the japanese idea of Asian for the Asian co-sphere idea of the 1940'. Is there foreboding of China design to rule the world. I don't think so, business is good and keeping America afloat with cheap goods otherwise sustaining consumers with basics needs, phones, toys, telephones, kitchen wares, plastic wares, anything you need walmart supply which is cheap, also with Dollar and 99 cent outlets that help the poor in America stretch the dollar.

World war ll stop Japan's headway toward prosperity but got on its feet with condition not to engage in military build up after the war. Instead built, cars, heavy equipments export them in Asia, later on built stamping plants in the US even to this day.

Economic depression hit the US before world war ll helped oil the machine that heal it to economic health, security and prosperity.

Seventy years from that era, America finds itself in the same depression cause by conflicts that doesn't have to do with anything but external affairs, sticking its finger on the cookie jars of others.

I am afraid that we are prune to accept such pattern, prodding US to interfere with regional issues like Spratly creating anxiety prompted by skewed intelligence like intimidated pilipino fishermen, easily made up scenario of seemingly bullying of a giant like China towards its neighbor Pinas,

Remember the Maine, the battle cry that started the US/Spanish war. (the battleship that sunk that cause the US/Spanish conflict in the Carribean), or who shot first in the Pilipino/American war in Pinaglabanan San Juan that started the Phil-American conflict or the allege assault of Vietnamese fisherboat at US ship at bay that started the Vietnam War.

The presence of the visiting US navy in Philippine waters is more a magnet for confrontation. And China is hell bent not to be intimidated by US presence. Neither does China wants US meddling in the territorial conflict which suggest that dialogue is the key resolution with the claimants including Taiwan, Pinas, Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei, and China, outside of any sanction by the UN General Assembly..

Tibet or Taiwan are important issues related to China's rational handling of its own affair. Think for a while Tibet given access to US base within China backyard, or nuclear capabililties within the island of Taiwan.

This are scary times for the world.

Do you think for a moment that Vietnam who in decades past sacrifice lives and loss of property align with US, nor Japan that had been bomb with hundreds of thousand casualties forget what them had gone through these wars.

The Tianamen Square incident that nearly destabilies China in the 90' was thwarted by massacre of number of students, foreign instigated, as it is happening in the middle east.

How could the people forget the EDSA l that toppled Marcos, Gorbachev in Russia, rise of Walesha in Poland, Saddam Hussein of Iraq recently Mubarak of Egypt, Shah of Iran, etc..

Anyone that have sense of history must look at the Spratly conflict of global proportion if such issue goes beyond peaceful resolve.

With the threat of nuclear holocaust, people of goodwill and reason must see to it that thIs issue goes to a summit conference within the common jurisdiction of the stakeholders without foreign intervention, or sanction.

Taiwan would play it cool given the prosperity that had been being independent State, neither Pinas having to road to financial health and prosperity must protect short and long term neighborly interest towards financial independence.

A short shooting war could destroy Pinas infrustracture, so is Taiwan. Would Vietnam joint in the pry given its decade war with American forces, neither would Korea or Japan because once a shooting war start, this could escalate to worldwide confrontation to nuclear holocaust.

This is a serious tragedy of worldwide proportion because China called a bully will not be bullied by any other given its military might and prosperity. e.g. Russian/China border guard detente in the 70'.

The loser will be the like of war mongers, "rumble rousers" pinoys with misplace patriotism that seem ready to plunge the Philippines into destruction.

The problem they are not even there to carry the mantle of responsibility but talk only, a very cheap display of fervor burning in a distant shore.
